Effects of a Hybrid Program of Active Breaks and Responsibility on the Behaviour of Primary Students: A Mixed Methods Study.

Schools are ideal environments to promote healthy lifestyles and teach values among students. In this sense, the present study aims to verify the result of an Active Break program (AB) within the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) Model in the school environment. The sample consisted of two teachers/tutors from the sixth year of Primary Education and 51 pupils, aged between 11 and 13 years, who were divided into an experimental group (n = 26) and a control group (n = 25). The intervention program lasted 3 months, in which the hybridised methodology was applied during 100% of the weekly classes, computing a total of 156 sessions by the end of the study. It was a quasi-experimental study design that used a mixed methodology combining a systematic observational analysis with semi-structured interviews. The results showed an evolution in the behaviour of the teacher from the experimental group from a controlling style to one centred on the transfer of autonomy, while the teacher from the control group primarily used strategies based on the imposition of tasks and the establishment of organisation, which caused an increase in disruptive behaviours among students. We conclude that the program is adaptable to Primary Education and can be extended to any educational environment to improve the classroom climate and attract the attention of students and, finally, allows for the promotion of new teaching strategies.

Sensibilidad ética en estudiantes versus profesionales de enfermería / Ethical sensitivity in nursing students and professionals / Sensibilidade ética em estudantes e profissionais de enfermagem

RESUMEN Objetivo: comparar la sensibilidad ética de estudiantes de una universidad privada del estado de Puebla versus profesionales de enfermería adscritos a instituciones de salud. Método: comparativo, prospectivo y de corte transversal, en 217participantes divididos en 109 para estudiantes y 108 para profesionales. Se aplicó el instrumento de sensibilidad ética. Se aplico estadística descriptiva y ANOVA de un factor. Resultados:la sensibilidad etica de las enfermeras y enfermeros en general es alta (= 73.14 ±15.38); Sin embargo, en relación al grado académico el promedio de la sensibilidad ética fue más alto en la licenciatura en enfermería (= 74.41 ±14.47) y posgrado en enfermería (= 73.77 ±11.57) en comparación el postécnico en enfermería (= 69.78 ±18.22). Al realizar el análisis de varianza de la ANOVA de un factor,se muestra que no existe diferencia entre el grado académico y la sensibilidad ética (F= 1.865, p = .167). Conclusión: la sensibilidad ética en estudiantes como profesionales de enfermería es alta y no cambia a pesar de que estén en ámbitos hospitalarios o universitarios, por lo que en la profesión de enfermería existen valores consistentes en sus diferentes ámbitos.

ABSTRACTObjective:to compare the ethical sensitivity of students from a Public University of the state of Puebla versus nursing professionals assigned to health institutions. Method:comparative, prospective, cross-sectional, in 217 participants divided into 109 for students and 108 for professionals. The instrument of ethical sensitivity was applied. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were applied. Results:the Ethical Sensitivity of Nurses in general is high (X̅= 73.14 ±15.38); However, in relation to the academic degree, the average ethical sensitivity was higher in the undergraduate nursing (X̅= 74.41 ±14.47) and postgraduate in nursing (X̅= 73.77 ±11.57) compared to the post-technical in nursing (X̅= 69.78 ±18.22). When performing the one-way ANOVA analysis of variance, it is shown that there is no difference between academic grade and ethical sensitivity (F = 1.865, p = .167). Conclusion: the ethical sensitivity in students as nursing professionalsis high and does not change even though they are in hospital or university settings, so that in the nursing profession there are consistent values in its different fields.

Método:comparativo, prospectivo y transversal, com 217 participantes divididos em 109 estudantes e 108 profissionais. Foi aplicado o instrumento de sensibilidade ética. Estatísticas descritivas e ANOVA de uma via foram aplicadas. Resultados:a sensibilidade ética dos enfermeiros em geral é alta (X̅= 73,14 ±15,38), porém, em relação ao grau acadêmico, a média da sensibilidade ética foi maior na graduação em enfermagem (X̅= 74,41 ±14,47) e na pós-graduação em enfermagem (X̅= 73,77 ±11,57) em comparação àpós-técnica em enfermagem (X̅= 69,78±18,22). Ao realizar a análise de variância ANOVA de um fator, émostrado que não hádiferença entre a nota acadêmica e a sensibilidade ética (F = 1,865, p = 0,167). Conclusão:a sensibilidade ética dos estudantes como profissionais de enfermagem é elevada e não se altera mesmo estando em ambientes hospitalares ou universitários, de modo que na profissão de enfermagem existem valores consistentes em suas diferentes áreas.

La educación en valores desde la familia en el contexto actual / Values education from the family in the current context

La familia posee una función esencial en la formación de las futuras generaciones, pues en ella radican los cimientos para la educación en valores que contribuirán al desarrollo de la sociedad saludable y virtuosa que se necesita. Por ello, resulta impostergable mejorar las bases teóricas y metodológicas que orienten su actuación, así como también lograr herramientas eficaces para motivar y adiestrar en el despliegue de su papel rector educativo para cimentar generaciones de calidad, lo cual constituye un reto imprescindible. Al respecto, en este artículo se buscó revitalizar y enriquecer esos principios sin obviar el contexto actual que se vive, y además se brindan herramientas que posibilitan un mejor desempeño de la familia en la labor educativa de los valores.

The family possesses an essential function in the training of the future generations, because the foundations for values education reside in it so that they will contribute to the development of the healthy and virtuous society that it is needed. Reason why it is inevitable to improve the theoretical and methodological bases that guide their performance, as well as to achieve effective tools to motivate and train in the display of its educational rector role to build quality generations, which constitutes an indispensable challenge. In this respect, this work is aimed at revitalizing and enriching those principles without obviating the current context that we are living, and some tools are also offered that facilitate a better family performance in the educational work of values.

Exploration on the Internal and External "Five - Step" Model to the Professional Values Education of Medical Students / 中国医学伦理学

By quoting the learning process proposed in The Book of Rites·The Doctrine of the Mean:"studying extensively,enquiring accurately,reflecting carefully,discriminating clearly,practicing earnestly",this paper con-structed the "Five - step" model in the moral and values education of college students,and also applied it to medi-cal students' professional values education. This method can guide students to study extensively and accumulate knowledge,ask in detail and explore carefully,think thoughtfully and accept actively,embed knowledge and judge rationally,devote oneself to practice and make the unity of knowing and doing,so as to achieve the purpose of "em-bedding within the heart and practicing outside the action in line" in the values education during the process of gradual progress and continuous circulation.

La biblioterapia como herramienta de ayuda aplicada en la biblioteca escolar: estudios de caso

sta investigación se realizó con la finalidad de explorar la aplicación de servicios de biblioterapia en una biblioteca escolar pública costarricense, posicionando al bibliotecólogo como encargado principal, apoyado por un equipo de especialistas en otras áreas como educación, psicología, entre otros. Se enmarca en la metodología de investigación-acción colaborativa, y pretende mediante la aplicación de la biblioterapia, trabajar con niños con problemas de conducta a nivel escolar, procurando mejorar en ellos la conducta, y promoviendo la cultura de paz mediante actividades lúdico-creativas cuyo principal eje es la lectura. Se realizó en una escuela costarricense, participaron seis niños, que acudieron a 19 intervenciones de biblioterapia grupales, con una duración de una hora cada intervención, durante un lapso de dos meses comprendidos entre los meses de setiembre, octubre y noviembre del año 2015. Se contó además con la asesoría dos profesionales especializadas en servicios de apoyo emocional. Es un aporte relevante para los profesionales en bibliotecología, pues les permite conocer, desde el punto de vista práctico, las fortalezas y debilidades de brindar un servicio de esta naturaleza, de manera tal que logren tomar decisiones con bases teóricas y mediante la aplicación práctica. Además, al ser una temática tan poco explorada en el ámbito nacional, permite explorar campos de acción nuevos para la profesión.

his research was conducted in order to explore the application of bibliotherapy services in a Costa Rican public school library, positioning the librarian as a leader, supported by a team of specialists in other areas such as education, psychology, among others. It is part of the research methodology collaborative action, and aims through the application of bibliotherapy, work with children with behavioral problems at school level, seeking to improve their behavior, and promoting the culture of peace through recreational and creative activities whose main shaft is reading. The research was conducted in a Costa Rican school in which six children participated in 19 library group interventions; each intervention lasted one hour within a two-month period on September, October and November in 2015. Moreover, the research was advised by two professionals that are specialists in emotional support services. It is an important contribution for professionals in librarianship, allowing them to know, from the practical point of view, the strengths and weaknesses of providing a service of this nature, so that reach decisions with theoretical basis and through practical application. In addition, being a subject so little explored at the national level, it can explore new fields of action for the profession.

Formación de valores en futuros docentes ecuatorianos / Values training in future Ecuatorian professors

La educación en valores constituye un aspecto esencial en la educación contemporánea, dada la necesidad de formar hombres capaces de transformar creadoramente el entorno donde habitan y, al mismo tiempo, ser ejemplo de comportamiento ciudadano y cívico. Se aborda la formación de valores en los predios universitarios. A tales efectos se muestran criterios sobre la naturaleza de los valores y su proceso en el contexto ecuatoriano.

Values education constitutes an essential aspect in contemporary education, due to the necessity of training men able to transform, in a creative way, the environment where they live in and, at the same time, be an example of citizen and civic behaviour. Values training is dealt with in the University grounds. To such effects some criteria about values nature and their process in the Ecuatorian context are shown.

Impacto de la educación en valores mediante la aplicación de medios de enseñanza en la disciplina de Morfofisiología / Impact of values education through the application of teaching aids in Morphophysiology subject

La presente investigación se efectuó con el objetivo de evaluar el impacto de la introducción y generalización del resultado científico: La educación en valores mediante la aplicación de medios de enseñanza - aprendizaje en la disciplina de Morfofisiología en la Licenciatura en Enfermería, a través de indicadores diseñados de acuerdo a las particularidades de la investigación. Se aplicaron encuestas, se realizó una revisión documental de bibliografía relacionada con la temática y de documentos de los departamentos e instituciones en que ha incidido este resultado, lo cual permitió constatar la amplia y efectiva aplicación práctica de los resultados obtenidos de forma sistemática, a través de publicaciones, posgrados, presentación en eventos científicos y su generalización en diversas instituciones educacionales.

This research was conducted with the objective of assessing the impact of the introduction and generalization of the scientific result: Values education through the application of teaching aids- learning in Morphophysiology subject in the Nursing Degree through indicators designed according to the research characteristics. Surveys were carried, furthermore, a documentary bibliographic review related to the subject matter and a review of documents from departments and institutions affected by this result were made. They enabled to verify the wide and effective practice of the results got in a systematic way, through publications, postgraduate courses and presentations in scientific events as well as its generalization in different educational institutions.

Educación en valores para la formación integral de estudiantes de medicina desde un enfoque psicopedagógico / Values education for the comprehensive training of medical students from a psychopedagogical approach

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 36 estudiantes de primer año de la carrera de medicina, perteneciente al Policlínico Universitario "Ramón López Peña" de Santiago de Cuba, en septiembre de 2010, con el objetivo de ofrecer algunos criterios teóricos y metodológicos sobre la educación en valores. Se utilizó el porcentaje como medida de resumen. Se identificaron valores débiles en los educandos y en el nivel de preparación cognoscitivo de los profesores para enfrentar este reto. Teniendo en cuenta el carácter multifactorial de dichos valores, urge valorar los fundamentos de los citados criterios desde los puntos de vista filosófico, sociológico, psicológico y pedagógico.

A descriptive and cross-sectional study in 36 first year-medical students belonging to "Ramón López Peña" University Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba was carried out in September 2010, with the purpose of providing some theoretical and methodological approaches to the values education. Percentage was used as summary measure. Weakness in the students' values and in cognitive preparedness level of teachers was identified to face this challenge. Given the multifactor nature of these values, it is urgent to assess the basis of such approaches from the philosophical, sociological, psychological and pedagogical points of view.

Desarrollo moral en estudiantes de odontología moral / Moral development in dentist students

En el presente trabajo se estudió el nivel de desarrollo moral en estudiantes de Odontología de una Universidad de la región capital de Venezuela. La muestra estuvo constituida por 192 estudiantes, 155 de género femenino y 37 de género masculino cursantes de primero y cuarto año de la carrera. Se utilizó una versión del instrumento Defining Issues Test -DIT- (Rest,1979) adaptado al contexto venezolano por Zerpa y Ramírez (2004). Los resultados sugieren que los estudiantes se encuentran preponderantemente en el nivel moral convencional o de mantenimiento de normas y han alcanzado niveles moderados de desarrollo moral de principios - índice P- (M = 27,45), no encontrándose diferencias entre cursantes de recién ingreso y terminales de la carrera. Un análisis de componentes principales (ACP) sugiere que las personas con mayor índice P, son de género femenino, con edades comprendidas entre 21 y 22 años y de nivel socio-económico bajo. Finalmente, con base en los resultados, se discuten algunas implicaciones para la creación de un eje de formación moral-educación en valores en la carrera de Odontología

The following essay assessed the level of moral development in Odontology students of a University in the capital region of Venezuela. The sample included 192 students, 155 female and 37 male, of the first and fourth year of their career. A version of the instrument Defining Issues Test -DIT- (Rest, 1979), adapted to the Venezuelan context by Zerpa and Ramirez, was used for this study. The results suggest that the students are preponderantly in the conventional moral level or obeying norms, and they have reached have reached moderate levels of moral development. P- Index (M = 27.45). No differences were found when comparing students who are at the beginning or at end of their career. An analysis of the principal components (ACP) suggests that the people with the higher P Index are female, with ages between 21 y 22 years and low social-economic level. Finally, based on the results, there is a debate regarding the implications of creating an axis of moral-education values development in the Odontology career

El ideario del Che y la educación en valores para el nuevo modelo de formación de profesionales de la salud / Che's ideas and the values education for the new training model of the health professional

Contribuir a la solución de los problemas que aún persisten con la educación de valores en la sociedad actual. Se abordaron un conjunto de ideas que pueden resultar de utilidad a los profesores de la educación superior, pues a la educación le corresponde un rol significativo en este empeño. El estudio de la obra de Ernesto Che Guevara constituye una poderosa arma teórico-práctica para los profesores de cualquier nivel de enseñanza incluyendo la posgraduada, es una verdadera contribución a la educación de la joven generación en los valores humanos que se cree y se quiere defender al precio que sea necesario, como dijera el Comandante en Jefe. Para la formación del nuevo modelo de profesionales de la salud, la consolidación de los valores, actitudes y comportamientos éticos acorde con los principios del humanismo y el socialismo, es imprescindible y consustancial el desarrollo científico-técnico que se quiere lograr en los estudiantes.

To contribute to solve the problems that still exist in the education of values in today's society. Some ideas that may be useful for higher education professors were approached, since education should play a significant role in this commitment. The study of Ernesto Che Guevara's work is a powerful theoretical-practical tool for professors at any educational level including the postgraduate one. It is a real contribution to the human values education of the young generation that is being created and that should be defended at any price, just as our Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, said. For the training of the new model of health professionals and for the consolidation of values, ethical attitudes and behaviours under the principles of humanism and socialism, the scientific and technical development to be achieved in the students is indispensable and consubstantial.
